TORONTO
The
Basics
Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario, is a Canadian city along Lake Ontario’s northwestern shore.

What
Drew Me
My initial draw to Toronto was familial nostalgia. Before coming to America, my dad worked in Toronto and the surrounding areas a few months per year, picking tobacco for a company. He always shared such good memories of his time there, so I'd always wanted to visit. One of my dad's closest friends, my Uncle Kenny, also resides just outside of Toronto, and it was always really nice to visit and spend time with him and his family.

Now, the appeal for me is that I love it so much. As I share below, it's the cleaner, better-cared-for version of NYC, and I truly love being there.
Do I Recommend Visiting?
If you're into cities, it's a strong and resounding yes from me. I love Toronto. If it were an American city, I'd live there. Toronto is a smaller, but immensely cleaner version of NYC, where you'll find the same caliber of good food, diversity, and a plethora of things to do, all without a disgusting subway system and a never-ending stream of crazies.

If you're not into cities, though, I do not recommend Toronto for you. It's about as big city as a city can get.

All in all, I'd say Toronto is a good weekend trip.
