FRANCE
The
Basics
France is a country in Western Europe and a member of the European Union.

What
Drew Me
When I was a preteen and saw Selena Gomez celebrate her high school graduation by flying to Paris in the movie "Monte Carlo," I fell for Paris instantly. Nowhere said a dreamy European getaway to me the way that Paris did. However, once I started researching France for my trip, I found even more to fall in love with, like Mont Saint Michel and the French Riviera.
Do I Recommend Visiting?
Yes, a million times, yes! Read that line again like a girl who just got proposed to, because that's exactly how I feel when I think of France. I feel it just typing this. Truthfully, though, when I first arrived in Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower, I was hecka disappointed. I stand by this to this day: the Eiffel Tower looks like scaffolding for a building that was never completed. If you're going to Paris for that, prepare yourself for that level of disappointment and also, do yourself a favor and Google "Paris Syndrome" before you hop on your flight.
Apart from the disappointment of the Eiffel, I adore Paris. There is a reason why it's the most visited place on earth. It truly is one of the dreamiest cities you'll ever visit. I fell for the outdoor dining, which wasn't a thing basically anywhere in the States until COVID happened. I fell for the cuisine, the architecture, the accents. You name it, I probably swooned over it.
Versailles is something I don't necessarily recommend. Is it beautiful? Yes. Is it worth the hassle? Absolutely not. But, I know there are lots of history buffs who would disagree, so I'll leave that up to you. Would I go back? Probably not.
Will I be returning to France? Absolutely. There is so much I haven't done and am dying to do. I'd like to visit the Catacombs, as I didn't have a chance to the first time. I'd also like to take the trip out to Mont Saint Michele, Normandy, Champagne, the Riviera, and Corsica.
If you've been saving up money and considering a trip to France, you have my stamp of approval. I know I'll be back.
