ALASKA
The
Basics
Alaska is the largest state in the United States, located on the northwest edge of North America. It is commonly referred to as "The Last Frontier" due to it's expansive areas of remote land that have never been fully charted, mapped or explored.

What
Drew Me
For me, the biggest appeal of traveling to Alaska was that it's not a popular destination. I've never really been interested in tourist hot-spots, and Alaska definitely did not seem to be one based on my own personal experience.

Along with the lure of being so unfrequented and largely remote, Alaska seemed to have aspects of culture that I'd never experienced. I was interested in learning about some forms of Alaskan lifestyle first-hand, and wanted to compare their major cities to my own.
Do I Recommend Visiting?
If you're looking for an off-the-beaten-path, no-frills trip to connect with nature, I would definitely recommend journeying to Alaska. I, myself, plan on returning in the future.

If you are not even remotely an outdoorsman, I would not recommend Alaska for you. The towns are relatively small and the majority of activities are outdoors.
